Birthday Party
The party went really well and I'd like to think that a good time was had by all. And there were a lot of "all"... The Thursday before the party we thought we would have to bring in strangers off the street (like they did in the scriptures for the wedding) because few had RSVP'd and the ones that had were passing around a cold and might not be able to come. But then on Friday, the Kelley family was healthy and more RSVPs came rolling in. All of Caitlin's buddies were able to come but one.
So on Saturday afternoon we hosted about 15 kids (3 and younger) to a massive cupcake decorating party. Oh what fun. Sprinkles were flying, colored icing ended up places you would not believe (inside Audrey's sock was one fun place and Caitlin's ear was another), and the kids had so much fun. I was probably crazy inviting so many kids but the parents stuck around and were a big help. Our family that was able to come helped out a bunch too.
We started out with decorating the plates. I got a bunch of black plates and stickers and let them go at it. When all had arrived and the plates were decorated we started frosting and decorating. This was so much fun. I wish I would have designated someone as photographer because I was a little too chicken with its head cut off at this time to worry about these.
I made aprons from oil cloth and the kids took home these, their plates, and whatever cupcakes had survived as there goodies.
The picture is at the very end of the family dinner but you can see part of Caitlin's apron and Audrey's matching bib. Both girls were very tired after this eventful day.
