Training
I have less than 3 weeks to the 1/2 Marathon. I was suppossed to get in 11 miles on Saturday, I didn't. Pretty much the worst run ever. We headed out to Miami Whitewater Forest to use a paved trail system about 9 miles long (inner and outer loops). David took Audrey and Caitlin on a boat ride on the lake while I took O in the jogger. She cried the first 1.5 miles unceasingly. We stopped and I rocked her to sleep and I tried again, she woke up immediately and I decided to turn around and call it quits. I retraced the 1.5 miles back to the trail head- she is conveniently asleep at this point. Having only got in 3 miles and being as she is asleep, I decide to try the inner loop. Get about a mile in and then come to a flooded section of trail, I decide to go through the river and continue my run. I hate wet shoes but not as much as not completing my miles. I ended up having both wet shoes AND low miles. My run was a completely loss but the girls and David had a great time on the paddle boats and we had a great picnic of tinfoil dinners and juice boxes. David got Vibram fivefingers, I still chuckle when I see them. But they are pretty awesomely designed shoes- super light weight and razor sipped soles to curve and move with your foot. Pretty ridiculous looking but I'm almost to the point of wanting some. Their claim is that they strenghten the foot muscles that atrophy in the traditional heal lift running shoes. The downfall is it takes a lot of time for the foot to get used to running and using the new muscles. Maybe I'll grab some and run Detroit in them...

Find some barefoot shoes that aren't the 5 Fingers. They're out there. Seriously, I love my shoes. (Also, I think the 5 Fingers look ridiculous.)
