Went to the library the other day and I was sort of depressed about the sheer volume of contemporary fiction there. Yes, I do often judge books by the cover- Neon colors are out, blood spatters are out, usually books with pictures from movie counterparts are out.
I was a little overwhelmed by the size of Le Mis. So we'll be holding off on that one for a bit. We now have a long list- perhaps years of books. Thanks guys!
What we selected (drumroll?) Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut.
So far (up to Chapter 4)- we like the writing style it is easy to read and even though the whole point is to be disjointed in time, it flows pretty naturally. I kind of like Billy Pilgrim even if noone else does. We have chuckled quite a few time. I'm kind of getting sick of "so it goes." Being a war story the battles and bloodshed might come soon- we'll just have to see how he covers that. Could he do so tastefully?
