vacuuming with a passion

So I got this vacuum the other day and love it! (Dyson DC14) It was a little spendy but Sears did price matching and coupons so it wasn't as bad as it could be. I seriously have taken up vacuuming as a hobby- like more than once a day. Opps, you dropped a crumb... I'll get the vacuum!
It's quieter than our last beast, picks up a lot more, and makes it fun to do. I like the clear cylinder best because you can see a cyclone of all the dust you are picking up. So, if your vacuum is dead and you think you'd like a vacuum more than any large appliance (stove, dishwasher, washer, dryer) you should test drive this. But it will set you back about as much as a standard range.
Don't buy it on a whim though. I did my research. Audrey's Doctor recommended we get a vacuum with a HEPA filter to keep her healthier. We have an older home with old dust, a cat, and a babe that loves to stick things in her mouth. The cleaner the better. There are many levels of HEPA but the Dyson is the best non-commercial grade filter- it picks up the tiniest dust.
Also, after buying several vacuum bags for the other vacuum I wanted something that would not require bag changes or filter changes. The Dyson's filter is washable and the dust goes into a canister. The 5 year parts and labor warranty was icing on the cake for me.
What I like the least about this is the hose. It might be a little too heavy-duty because it is a little heavy. The hose is made of metal encased with a strong flexible plastic. As I get used to it and realize it can take a beating I will probably love this part more. After all, it was the hose that crumbled first on our last vacuum.

We had to purchase a new vacuum at the beginning of this year. Due to other things breaking we didn't really have the flexibility in our budget to get whatever kind we wanted. I so wanted to get a bagless vacuum. Lucky! Although, I dislike vacuuming enough that I don't think even a bagless would motivate me to vacuum more than once a week. :D We've been out of touch too long my dear; what are Audrey's health issues? Anyway, congrats on having an appliance you love. hahaha

Oh that vacuum sounds fabulous. I don't know when our vacuum will die, but when it does a luxury vacuum sounds fabulous. Right now, I lock the kids in a different room while I vacuum because Matyas is scared of it, which sets Amaya off crying too.
